ANNOUNCEMENT; 15 December 2021, Change of name: EASD-PCDE Study Group becomes Primary Care Diabetes Europe Study Group

The study group is comprised of primary care researchers in diabetes across Europe and beyond. The guiding principles are:

  • To encourage high quality research in diabetes in primary care.
  • To build a European network of primary care researchers, with wide interests on diabetes
  • To share research findings.

Current on-going funded research projects.

  1. Association of blood pressure with cardiovascular and mortality outcomes in older persons with or without diabetes mellitus
  2. Association of erectile dysfunction and PDE5 inhibitor usage with the risk of cardiovascular disease and mortality in patients with diabetes
  3. External validation of diabetes cardiovascular risk models (Advance and Dial) in men and women by ethnicity (country of birth) and disposable household income.
  4. Gestational diabetes and complications among pregnant women attended in primary care sexual and reproductive health services in Catalonia.
  5. Quality assessment of type 2 diabetes care in Greece: setting indicators from a primary care perspective
  6. Impact of COVID-19 on primary care services; a qualitative survey of health care professionals across Europe

Completed research projects.

  1. Deintensification in older patients with type 2 diabetes: A systematic review of approaches, rates and outcomes
  2. Benefits and harms of sodium-glucose co-transporter-2 inhibitors (SGLT2-I) and renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system inhibitors (RAAS-I) versus SGLT2-Is alone in patients with ntervetype 2 diabetes: A systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials
  3. SGLT2 inhibitors and renal outcomes in type 2 diabetes with or without renal impairment: A systematic review and meta-analysis
  4. Deintensification in older patients with type 2 diabetes: A systematic review of approaches, rates and outcomes
