Introduction 2016 PCDE Conference

Primary Care Diabetes Europe is pleased to announce that its 14th International Conference will take place on 29 + 30 April 2016 in Barcelona (Spain). Meeting venue us the “Barceló Sants” Hotel where previous PCDE meetings were successfully held. Venue to be confirmed shortly.

Living with diabetes is not easy. Accompanying people who live with diabetes perhaps even more complex. Today, a pro-active multidisciplinary team approach is desirable for optimal care towards people who are prepared and activated. This is rather challenging for professionals working in the primary care area. With new drugs becoming available, “cure”is more and more individualised , dependant on personal assessment , while the “care” for these people is more and more complex and demanding due to increasing multi-morbidity and even higher expectations for remained functioning in rising ageing populations.

These evolutions in contemporary primary diabetes care make continued professional learning inevitable. Therefore, the organizing committee of this 14th PCDE International Conference is delighted to invite you to this unique (bi-annual) meeting organized by primary care professionals for clinicians and scientists working in the primary care field as well.

The PCDE meetings enjoy the support of major professional organisations in the field such as; EASD, WONCA, IDF, EURADIA, FEND, DESG, etc.

The scope of the meeting comprises a broad range of topics about various aspects of cure and care for people living with diabetes, relevant for all primary health care practitioners and will present an opportunity to share and discuss the latest state of the art knowledge in the field.

The scientific program will feature keynote lectures and state of the art sessions from international experts. The detailed scientific program will be published shortly. (on PCDE websites, PCD Journal, etc.)

In a special “rising star session” a young promising researcher in the field of primary care diabetes will be honoured to present his promising research, while the 6th “Paul Cromme lecture” will award a European primary care celebrity, active in the diabetes field.

Participants to the conference will have the opportunity to present and share their experience and research results during interactive poster sessions while the top 5 selected posters will be presented in a plenary session as well.

The organizing committee is looking forward to welcome you to the 14th International Primary Care Diabetes Conference in Barcelona in 2016 (www.2016pcdeconference.org ).

Yours Sincerely,

Johan Wens
